Havana LGBTQA Pride, 2013
One of the most encouraging changes I've witnessed in Cuba since 2010 is the improvement in LGBTQA rights. Where once queer Habaneros had to go through an elaborate series of switchbacks and meetups to find the friendly nightlife, it is now common to see same-sex couples holding hands, and a supporting character in 2012's Juan de los Muertos was trans*. The first Pride Parade happened in Havana in 2008, and the event has grown steadily each year. Of course, this being Cuba, there is no celebration without rhumba, dancing, and free contraception.
